Intro:
Yes you read that right today we are planting spinach in zone 5. We will be doing this as cheaply as possible because our goal is to save money compared to just buying our vegetables.
What The Packet Says:
The packet says to plant the spinach seeds 1 inch apart in rows that are spaced 12 inches apart at a depth of half an inch. it than suggests thinning the spinach to be 6 inches apart after sprouting and that it will take 45 days to mature.
How I Will be Doing It:
I chose to ignore some of the instructions due to the size and shape of the railing planter in question. Firstly I chose to plant the spinach rows only 8-9 inches apart. Secondly I may have clumsily put more seeds that one per inch in each row. Thirdly when the time comes i will be thinning it to one plant every 4 inches instead of 6 because I will be harvesting the outer leaves regularly.
When To Expect A Update:
I will be making my next update about 2-5 days after they sprout and expect weekly updates after that until harvest. Thanks for reading and until next time have fun.
